Meghan Markle’s former press secretary doesn’t regret accusing her of bullying.
In a new interview with “60 Minutes Australia”, Jason Knauf, a former palace aide who previously worked with Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton as communications secretary, confirmed he stands by his allegations made against the duchess, 43, in 2018.
“I wouldn’t change anything,” Knauf declared.
When asked about the public attention he received after his 2018 accusations about Markle leaked in 2021, Knauf said, “I think it’s tough, but it’s probably quite good.”
“Someone who is helping other people how to deal with the public eye… you probably have to take your own medicine sometimes,” Knauf continued.
“You can’t choose just to take the fun stuff in any job, and that applies to the prince and princess as well as everyone else working for them,” he added. “So, I wouldn’t change anything.”
The Post has reached out to Markle’s reps for comment.
Back in 2018, Knauf alleged in email correspondences to the palace’s human resources department that Meghan bullied two PAs “out of the household.”
Knauf’s claims were later leaked in March 2021 shortly before Markle and Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey aired.
“I am very concerned that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. The treatment of X was totally unacceptablem” Knauf reportedly wrote in his message to William’s press secretary at the time.
“The Duchess seems intent on always having someone in her sights,” Knauf’s note continued. “She is bullying Y and seeking to undermine her confidence. We have had report after report from people who have witnessed unacceptable behavior towards Y.”
As reported by royal expert Tom Bower, one staffer allegedly told Knauf that her encounters with Markle made her “feel sick,” while other unnamed staffers allegedly told him, “I can’t stop shaking” and “I feel terrified.”
Markle denied the bullying allegations at the time via her reps, who stated the claims were the “latest attack on her character.”
The former “Suits” star faced more bullying accusations from some of her former staffers, who dubbed Markle a “‘Mean Girls’ teenager,” in a Vanity Fair report that came out last month. Markle’s team similarly denied the claims.
Last September, a report from the Hollywood Reporter claimed Markle instills fear in her staff, with one insider describing her as a “dictator in high heels” who has reduced “grown men to tears.”
In the “60 Minutes” interview, Knauf said he had “lots of great times” with Markle and Harry, 40, when he worked with the couple. He also said that he wishes them “absolutely all the best with their lovely family.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Knauf claimed he’s still very close with William, 42, and allegedly got a private call from the prince after Middleton, 43, was diagnosed with cancer last year.
“It was awful, absolutely awful,” Knauf said of the call. “It’s the lowest I’ve ever seen him. Within a couple of weeks, if you’re Prince William, you find out that both your wife and your father have cancer. I couldn’t believe it.”
