New video came to light this week of a 2020 incident between former NFL star Earl Thomas and his then-wife Nina Thomas that resulted in the two arguing in a parking lot with weapons in their hands.
Police video of the April 13, 2020 altercation, which was obtained by TMZ Sports, showed officers approaching the two while they were locked in an argument outside an Airbnb in Austin, Texas.
The pair were both brandishing weapons — Nina holding a knife and Earl with a gun in his hand.
Officers could be heard yelling for the two to drop their weapons as they approached with their guns drawn.
Both Thomases complied with the responding officers’ commands and were place in handcuffs and separated.
At one point, Earl was telling officers that Nina was his wife and that “she caught me cheating.”
The video later jumps to Nina speaking with an officer and telling him that she and her sister-in-law had gone to the Airbnb in order to confront Earl and his brother for cheating on them.
Nina also admitted to bringing Earl’s gun to the location in order to scare him, but said the firearm had not been loaded.
The knife was picked up during the dispute inside the Airbnb.
Nina and her sister-in-law had found Earl and his brother in bed with other women that night, according to TMZ, and she pointed the gun at the back of Earl’s head.
The former NFLer was able to wrestle the firearm away from her and the argument eventually made its way into the parking lot.
“My husband has been leaving — we’ve been having problems,” Nina explained to an officer in the video. “He’s been leaving off and on all weekend. And he said he was hanging with some buddies. And I didn’t believe that, because we’ve had issues in the past. So I hacked his Snapchat and found his location here.”
Earl was not charged in the altercation, but Nina was arrested and charged with burglary of a residence with intent to commit aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The case was eventually dismissed in 2021.
Nina filed for divorce later in 2020 and the couple shares two children together.
Earl played in the NFL for 10 seasons, with nine of those in Seattle.
He earned seven Pro Bowl selections and won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks in 2014.
His career came to an end after he played one year with the Baltimore Ravens in 2019.
