A man who once appeared on Judge Judy has been taken into custody for allegedly kidnapping, imprisoning and sexually assaulting a woman.

The FBI put out a press release identifying 29-year-old Negasi Zuberi — who also goes by the names Sakima, Justin Hyche, and Justin Kouassi — as the suspect in the July kidnapping of a woman in Seattle.

The release recounts the details of the crime, stating, “Zuberi traveled from his home in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Seattle, where he solicited the services of a prostitute, he then posed as an undercover police officer. The victim told investigators that he pointed a taser at her and placed her in handcuffs and leg irons and put her in the back seat of his car. He then traveled roughly 450 miles with the woman, sexually assaulting her during the trip.”

Zuberi then allegedly imprisoned the woman in a “makeshift cell” made of cinder blocks that he created in his garage. The woman was able to escape once he left, after she repeatedly banged on the door and flagged down a motorist.

The suspect has been identified as a former guest on a 2018 episode of Judge Judy, who successfully sued his girlfriend at the time for dousing his clothes with bleach, per Inside Edition. Zuberi has since married the defendant, Alycia Westfall, whom he now shares to children with.

The New York Post reports Westfall once requested a protective order after he allegedly threatened and mentally abused her and their two children. She also claimed that he was physically and financially abusive toward her.

The local police department obtained a warrant for Zuberi’s home in Klamath Hills, Oregon, and found the cell described by his alleged victim. Although Zuberi attempted to flee to Reno, Nevada, he had a brief standoff with local law enforcement there before he was taken into custody.

“According to the complaint, this woman was kidnapped, chained, sexually assaulted, and locked in a cinderblock cell. Police say she beat the door with her hands until they were bloody in order to break free,” Assistant Special Agent in Charge Stephanie Shark said in a statement. “Her quick thinking and will to survive may have saved other women from a similar nightmare.”

Her statement goes on to mention that Zuberi, who has lived in 10 states over the last decade, has now been linked to “violent sexual assaults” in at least four other states.

The FBI asks that any potential victims come forward. They have expanded their investigation to include the other states Zuberi has resided in.
