Florida’s Micah Handlogten suffered a gruesome leg injury during the Gators’ SEC championship game against Auburn on Sunday.
Initial reports indicate it could be a broken left leg and the sound of the snap could be heard from people near the court.
The sophomore center had to be stretchered off the court after an air cast was put on. He was later sent to the hospital.
The injury occurred when Handlogten was trying to grab a rebound early in the game.
He immediately went down and blood could be seen on his leg, a sign that bone may have broken through the skin.
Handlogten’s mother came down on the court and the Florida team came over to him as he was placed on the stretcher.
He left the court to an ovation from the Auburn players and coaches, as well as the crowd at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
Handlogten, who transferred from Marshall, is averaging 5.5 points and 7.1 rebounds this season.
