A 7-year-old Florida boy was fatally shot by a stray bullet on Tuesday during a fight over jet skis.

The child, whose name was not released, was shot in the head when gunfire broke out near a picnic area off the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa, Spectrum Bay News 9 reported.

The boy’s grandfather tried to protect the youngster by pulling him into a vehicle — and was struck in the finger by the same bullet, police said.

Authorities later determined that the shoot-out stemmed from an argument over jet skis at a nearby boat launch.

“One group was mad because the second group was riding their jet skis too close to the shore,” Tampa police Deputy Chief Calvin Johnson said at a news conference, according to ABC.

The shooter was “careless” and “let anger take over,” Johnson continued.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made and police are urging the public to come forward with information.

“Turn yourself in. … Just imagine if that was your child that was killed over this,” Johnson implored the shooter, adding that he was “very angry” about the “senseless” tragedy.

“We need to do better as a community, really, as Americans,” he lamented.

“There’s a better way to deal with anything you may be going through, other than going to that firearm.”

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement that the department’s thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones.

“Our detectives will work tirelessly until all those involved are identified and arrested,” he insisted.

The Tampa boy shooting took place hours before that a spate of gunfire across New York City killed two people and injured nine others as July 4 celebrations came to a close.

Five of the shootings took place in the Bronx, prompting NYPD’s “level four mobilization” response.
