Florence Pugh is the latest celeb victim to be struck by a flying object at a public event in one of the weirdest trends of 2023. The actor was hit in the face on stage while promoting Dune: Part 2 at Brazil’s Comic Con (CCXP) in São Paulo on Sunday (Dec. 3), per Entertainment Weekly.

In a video clip shared on social media, the actress is seen posing with castmates Timothée Chalamet, Souheila Yacoub, Austin Butler and Zendaya, as well as director Denis Villenueve, when an object comes flying at her from the audience and hits her in her right eye. After touching her face, Pugh leans over to pick it up, as she and her co-stars all appear stunned.

At a panel that took place before she was hit with the unknown object, Pugh had expressed that she had an “amazing time” hanging out with and working alongside her co-stars, per EW.

“Coming in here — the power of this room — is because of the first movie,” she explained. “And we felt that when we went on set every single day. So it feels really, really special being here with the second one, and I’m very, very proud.”

Audience members throwing objects at performers on-stage has become a questionable trend of the times, particularly at concerts.

According to Variety, artists like Harry Styles, Bebe Rexha and Kelsea Ballerini are just a few figures who have experienced the harmful phenomenon over the past several months. R&B singer Ari Lennox was hit with a water bottle at her Nov. 29 performance, and even wore a helmet during her opening set days the next day, per USA Today.
