Five people were found dead late Tuesday night in the California desert.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the small desert community of El Mirage Tuesday night to perform a welfare check when they made the horrifying discovery.

The five deceased individuals were part of a remote community just off the scenic Highway 395 between Lake Los Angeles and Adelanto, KABC reported.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths were not immediately clear.

Police have not made any arrests relating to the deaths, nor have they released the identities of the victims.
