Former CNN anchor Don Lemon, who was fired from CNN in 2023, is coming back with a new digital show.

The Don Lemon Show will be streaming on X (the platform owned by Elon Musk that was formerly known as Twitter), though a premiere date and further information about the nature of the show was not mentioned. Lemon announced the news in a statement shared on Instagram yesterday.

“I’ve heard you… and today I am back bigger, bolder, freer! My new media company’s first project is The Don Lemon Show,” he shared. “It will be available to everyone, easily, whenever and wherever you want it, streaming on the platforms where the conversations are happening. And you’ll find it first on X, the biggest space for free speech in the world.”

His statement continued, “I know now more than ever that we need a place for honest debate and discussion without the hall monitors. This is just the beginning so stay tuned.”

Lemon will be joining former Fox anchor Tucker Carlson, who also hosts a show on X after being fired from his former network.

Musk invited Lemon to host a show on the platform on at least two occasions in 2023. He first raised the option when Lemon released his statement announcing he was fired from CNN in May of that year. “Have you considered doing your show on this platform? Maybe worth a try. Audience is much bigger,” Musk tweeted in response at the time.

In June of that same year, Musk once again suggested Lemon bring a show to X, while inviting Rachel Maddow as well: “It’d be great to have @maddow, @donlemon & others on the left put their shows on this platform. No exclusivity or legal docs required!” Musk tweeted. “You will receive our full support. The digital town square is for all.”

This will be Lemon’s first media venture since being fired from CNN in April 2023 after 17 years on the network. At the time, he co-hosted CNN This Morning with Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins. His firing came shortly after he made unsavory comments about Nikki Haley being past her “prime.”

Lemon has been an outspoken critic of CNN since his firing, even going so far as to say he felt “vindicated” that former CEO Chris Licht was axed from the network in June 2023.

He gave no indication at the time of whether he would return to broadcast news, but claimed he was “not worried at all” of where he would land.
