We’re at the point of the season when we’re looking for any advantage we can find. We’re no longer in the business of seeking the next prospect to stash or holding onto players wasting away on your bench for depth.
Streaming pitchers is a great way to gain short-term production by exploiting favorable matchups — and there are plenty of options available for that temporary boost.
In 2023, Kyle Bradish finished fourth in Cy Young voting after going 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA, 12.1 strikeouts per nine and an 11 percent swinging-strike rate over 30 starts. Those results weren’t a mirage, as the right-hander went 2-0 with a 2.75 ERA, 12.1 strikeouts per nine, .186 opponents average and 10.7 percent swinging-strike rate in eight 2024 starts before a UCL injury required him to undergo Tommy John surgery.
After a 15-month layoff, Bradish returned to Baltimore’s rotation last month — and the results have been encouraging. It has been just two starts, but he struck out 39.5 percent of the batters he faced with a 13.9 percent swinging-strike rate — and that included a six-inning, 10-strikeout effort versus Boston in his 2025 debut.
