“No one was seriously hurt. A couple of minor injuries,” White said. “The arena handled it immediately, roped it off and moved people to better seats.”
The 31-year-old Malott would go on to win the welterweight fight in dominant fashion, a submission victory via guillotine choke.
“I noticed it for like a quarter of a second,” Malott said of the incident per MMA Fighting. “It fell. I kind of like jumped to the side, stepped over the gate. I was like, ‘One, that sucks for them. Two, don’t think about it, stay focused,’ and immediately forgot about it afterward.”
The performance by Malott won $50,000 in performance of the night bonuses, White announced.
“Obviously, Malott, are you still in here?” White said with a smile on his face. “You got it, kid. You won the $50,000.”
“Who me? Let’s go!” Malott said.
