Washington State maintained a passing frequency of nearly 60%, mirroring Western Kentucky’s approach. Unfortunately, Ward encountered difficulties adapting to this scheme.

In contrast, Colorado State experienced a significant transformation under the guidance of Jay Norvell, who arrived from Nevada last season. The Rams transitioned from a run-centric offense to an Air Raid system, resulting in subpar outcomes. They concluded the season ranking 121st in EPA/Play and a challenging 131st in Finishing Drives.

As they enter the second year of this new system, Clay Millen is poised for improvement following a moderately successful first season, characterized by an average of 8.2 yards per attempt and a respectable PFF passing grade of 75.0.

Considering Washington State’s relatively average secondary performance from the previous season, Millen’s continued adaptation to the Air Raid system should further enhance his already promising passing statistics.
