The police who investigated the Oklahoma property where a sex offender gunned down his wife and five teens before killing himself last week left bloody clothing, bones, and other “horrifying things” at the scene, one grieving relative said this week.
The gruesome findings littered the Henryetta property after convicted rapist Jesse McFadden, 39, killed his wife, Holly Guess, 35, her three children, and two teenage friends before turning the gun on himself at the Henryetta property, Guess’s aunt Lynn Wiatt said Monday.
“Nothing can prepare anyone for what we had to find,” a tearful Wiatt said an interview with NewsNation’s Ashleigh Banfield.
Wiatt said she and other traumatized relatives came across bloody children’s clothes, a mysterious ledger, binders of disturbing pictures, and other objects police missed during their own search.
“We found bones…We found other things. The other family members came, the police came. We found a lot of horrifying things,” she alleged.
Wiatt said she also found Velcro restraints in the house, but a police officer told her to throw them away because the house was no longer an active crime scene.
Footage from the inside McFadden’s home shows the restraints attached to the wall behind what looks like a mattress on the floor.
The bloody clothes, she explained, were put into garbage bags for investigators.
“I’m not a crime scene investigator. I’m not a police officer. I should not have had to see those things. I’m not sleeping. I’m not eating,” she said.
Police believe that McFadden – who was set to be tried last week for soliciting child pornography – killed Guess, her children, and the two other teens who were visiting the family with multiple gunshots to the head and staged an elaborate crime scene before taking his own life.
The bodies of Guess, McFadden, and Guess’s son Michael, 15, and daughter Tiffany, 13, were all discovered together, police said last week.
The remains of Guess’s daughter Rylee, 17, and friends Brittany Brewer, 16, and Ivy Webster, 14, were found about a quarter of a mile away.
“There are questions that will never get answered, because the only people that know are no longer here,” Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice said of the harrowing incident.
In 2017, McFadden was accused of using a contraband cell phone to sext an underage girl while still in prison for a 2003 rape. He failed to appear for trial on May 1, prompting the discovery of the seven bodies.
Police later revealed that McFadden’s messaged the alleged victim hours before the killings.
“This is all on you for continuing this,” he wrote.
Guess’s mother, Janette Mayo, said last week that McFadden lied to her daughter about his criminal past.
“He was very standoffish, generally very quiet, but he kept my daughter and the kids basically under lock and key. He had to know where they were at all times, which sent red flags up,” she said.
