DUNEDIN, Fla. — Vladimir Guerrero Jr. loves Canada and especially the Jays, but for his upcoming free agency — he is next winter’s clear No. 1 guy — he suggests he will consider any of the 30 teams. That includes even the Yankees, although he hasn’t completely forgotten why they once upset him. 

Guerrero is a great fit for any big-market team, a driven performer who’s improved his shape and game, and would be a plus anywhere. But he’s also a family guy, so I’m still not convinced what the Yankees’ chances would be. (Part, but not all, of his issue related to the Yankees’ treatment of his dad, Guerrero confirmed to The Post.) 

Yes, it was the Yankees’ changing their original plan to sign his Hall of Fame father (in late 2003 when Guerrero Jr. was 3, Yankees higher-ups were said “down the road” on a Guerrero deal before George Steinbrenner and ex-Yankee Dwight Gooden met to sign Gooden’s nephew, Gary Sheffield, instead). But it was more than that. It was also his father, a brilliantly wild-swinging superstar on the field but a level-headed fellow off it, who advised him to be open-minded — at least publicly. 

“If I go to free agency, every team — all 30 teams — are going to have the opportunity to sit down with [me], to talk to me,” Guerrero said. “I’m OK with everything. It’s in the past.”
