NextImg:Exclusive | Stacy London talks fall’s top trends, from leopard print to the surprising shade that’s the ‘new black’

For Stacy London, comfort just might be ultimate accessory.

While she’s curated a wide array looks on “What Not to Wear” and “Wear Whatever the F You Want,” she defines her current fashion philosophy as “comfortable, elegant and easy” — words she assures us are “not opposites.”

“The minute you don’t look comfortable, I think you look less confident — and I’m always trying to think of things that are going to make you feel more confident,” says the stylist, who recently dropped a new QVC collection.

The fresh designs are a “buildable capsule” shoppers can infuse with their own style — from faux suede slacks to the velvet blazers she says were the “winner winner chicken dinner” at a recent event with TikTok creators.

London’s far from the only powerhouse teaming up with the shopping channel, as Rebecca Minkoff, Hoda Kotb and Kathy Hilton (to name but a few) have all joined its Q50 Collective.

“For me to talk about Carla [Rockmore] or Jennie Garth or Martha Stewart …. I believe in them, and I believe in what they’re doing — and they believe in me,” she says.

But you needn’t have famous friends to get a head start on styling fall’s top trends. Below, London breaks down all the looks that will define this season, from playful patterns to soft silhouettes.

“When it comes to the first principles of fall dressing, you have to have your basic monochromatic looks. Black does not seem to be the new black …. we’re seeing a slightly different color palette. It’s very interesting to see a lot of people pairing coppers and rusts (and other kinds of browns) with black this season.”

“I think you’re gonna see a ton of leopard prints … a ton of polka dot … [and] a ton of stripes and florals. It’s like we took every single print category and we decided to put them all in fall. If you’re wearing a print, no matter how many colors are in the print, those colors are your palette. You can immediately pull any of those colors out … for the other pieces of clothing that you’re wearing or for accessories.”

“I think you’re going to see a lot of suede this season. We always get leather, but there’s a real emphasis on suede [this fall].”
