Despite long speculation and reporting to the contrary, the Knicks are not in the mix to trade for Kevin Durant, The Post has learned.
Durant is expected to be dealt this offseason from the Suns, with ESPN listing the Knicks among five teams who have registered interest. However, a league source said New York will not be dealing for the future Hall of Famer.
Assuming he’s traded, Durant, 36, will join his fourth team since leaving the OKC Thunder in free agency in 2016. His stint in Phoenix — which started three seasons ago when he was traded from the Nets — reiterated Durant’s offensive stardom but will be remembered as disappointment without playoff success.
The Knicks were interested in signing Durant in free agency in 2019, but he chose the Nets instead after tearing his Achilles with the Warriors. Durant’s father, Wayne, was reportedly pushing him to join the Knicks at that time.
