Monday night, the Yankees saw something they had not seen since May 13.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Anthony Volpe stole a base. It came without a throw to second against the Angels’ Kenley Jansen, making it look like an easy effort to inch closer around the diamond.

Though stealing bases is a big part of Volpe’s game, the third-year shortstop hasn’t been as active on the basepaths this season.

After stealing 24 bases in his rookie year and tallying 28 last year, Volpe is on pace for just 18 this season.
