The text message arrived on Aaron Judge’s phone from a random number this offseason.

It claimed to be from Juan Soto, but Judge figured someone might be messing with him.

Just in case, he shot Soto a message via social media asking if it was really him, and the newest Met confirmed that it was, so the two began texting.

Judge had tried to reach out to Soto earlier in the winter, when all eyes were on his looming massive payday in free agency, though he did not hear back because his former teammate had changed numbers.
