


Henry Ruggs is expected to plead guilty in connection with a DUI case that claimed of the life of a 23-year-old woman in 2021.
Las Vegas resident Tina Tintor died, engulfed in flames, following a collision in which Ruggs, a former Raiders wideout, was accused of driving over 150 miles per hour on city streets after drinking at TopGolf.
Ruggs’ attorneys said that he would enter a guilty plea, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Ruggs will plead guilty to one count of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter and one count of DUI resulting in death, according to ESPN.
He faces between three and 10 years in Nevada state prison.
If Ruggs had been convicted of all five of his charges, including felony DUI resulting in death, he could have faced up to 46 years in prison.
Ruggs faced the charges after he allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .161, about twice the legal driving limit.
Ruggs was accused of driving 156 miles per hour seconds before the collision, which occurred at 127 miles per hour.
Prosecutors said that a loaded gun was found on the floor of Ruggs’ Corvette.
His girlfriend, Rudy Washington, was a passenger in his car, and suffered serious arm injuries in the collision.
Ruggs had been filmed partying shortly before the crash.
The Raiders selected Ruggs 12th overall in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, after he starred at Alabama.
Ruggs was released by the Raiders day after the crash.
In 20 career NFL games, Ruggs had 50 catches for 921 yards and four touchdowns.
After the crash, then-Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said that Ruggs needed love.
“And if no one else will do it, I’ll do it,” Carr said.
“My emotions have been on a roller coaster so to speak this year. My heart goes out so much. I’ll try to say it with a straight face because I’ve already been emotional about every bit of this.
“But to the family, to all the families involved, no one ever wants to see this, whether it’s a football player or not, you never want to see something like this happen. It broke my wife and I’s heart, honestly.”
