A Louisiana middle school teacher who resigned amid allegations that she gave birth to a 17-year-old student’s child was arrested and charged with rape following a two-year investigation.

Morgan Freche, 33, a former teacher at the Loranger Middle School, was booked after surrendering on Tuesday to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, WBRZ reports.

The sheriff’s office said the department is still looking into the allegations levied against Freche, noting that they first reached officials two years ago.

The most damning allegation centered around a 17-year-old boy who is fathering a child with the former teacher.

“We have just learned of the arrest of former Tangipahoa Parish teacher, Morgan Freche,” Superintendent Melissa Stilley said in a statement.

“Neither the Board nor this office will tolerate employee behavior which crosses the line in areas such as the proper professional relationships between educators and their students,” she added.

Freche, who resigned from the district last week, was also charged with oral sexual battery and multiple counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Officials did not provide further details as the investigation surrounding Freche remains ongoing.

“This type of investigation is time-consuming and is being handled with great care. Under no circumstances will we be rushed for closure,” Sheriff Daniel Edwards previously said.

A representative for Freche could not be immediately reached for comment.
