FORT MYERS, Fla. — Billy Eppler is back in baseball.

The former Mets general manager and Yankees executive has joined the Brewers as a special adviser, a source confirmed, and will work under GM Matt Arnold.

SNY first reported the development.

Major League Baseball suspended Eppler all of last season for violating the league’s injured list rules, including “the deliberate fabrication of injuries,” the league said, during his time with the Mets.

Eppler had served as the Mets’ general manager beginning in November 2021 and ending after the 2023 season — overseeing a strong ’22 season, the signings of Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander and the ensuing trades of the star pitchers — and was expected to remain with the organization under new president David Stearns, but he resigned on Oct. 5, 2023, while under MLB’s investigation.

Now off the league’s Ineligible List, Eppler enters back into a game in which he has spent decades, including a long tenure with the Yankees.

He rose to director of pro scouting and assistant GM from 2005-15 under Brian Cashman.
