Most of the intrigue surrounding the Rangers as it relates to the upcoming draft has centered around whether they’ll keep the 12th overall pick with the June 25 deadline looming for general manager Chris Drury to decide whether to send this year’s pick or next year’s to Pittsburgh to complete the J.T. Miller trade.

So much so that there’s been little to no conversation about whom the Rangers actually might draft should they hang onto the pick — which would be a tacit declaration of Drury’s belief that next year’s squad will not be in the lottery and thus carry little risk of bringing a better selection.

Though the 2026 draft is seen as deeper than this year’s edition, if the Rangers do pick, there will be plenty of good options at No. 12.
