The 75th Emmy Awards have officially moved from their original September broadcast date. In a joint statement by the Television Academy and FOX — the 2023, or rather, 2024 hosting network — announced that the award show will now take place on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024.

The three-hour event will broadcast live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where it will “honor the talented performers, writers, directors and craftspeople whose work has entertained, inspired and connected viewers across the globe throughout the past year,” according to a press release.

Moreover, the pre-taped Creative Arts Emmy Awards will take place over two nights on Saturday, Jan. 6, and Sunday, Jan. 7, before an edited show will air on FXX on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. EST/PST.

The official announcement comes after much speculation over how the Television Academy was planning to move forward with the award show seeing as both WGA and SAG-AFTRA are currently on strike.

While the writers have been on the picket lines since early May, it wasn’t until July 14 that SAG-AFTRA joined them — just two days after this year’s Emmy nominations were announced. Both unions are fighting for residuals from streaming companies as well as clear terms on how the industry plans to use artificial intelligence.

Under the strikes’ guidelines, no one is allowed to work on or promote new projects — which has resulted in the temporary shutdown of many productions.

“Like the rest of the industry, we hope there will be an equitable and timely resolution for all parties in the current guild negotiations,” the TV Academy said in a previous statement to Variety.

Regarding the upcoming Emmys, Succession swept the board with a whopping 27 nominations for its final season, while other shows like Daisy Jones & the Six, Wednesday and Only Murders in the Building were also recognized by the TV Academy. Plus, it should also be noted that Vanderpump Rules raked in its first two Emmy nominations for its groundbreaking 10th season (thank you, Scandoval!).

The 75th Emmy Awards will air at 8/7c on Jan. 15, 2024 on FOX.
