Emily in Paris Season 5 is officially in production, and in the words of the great Lizzie McGuire, another American TV character who made her mark on Italy, “Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of!”
The fourth season of Darren Star’s hit Netflix series showed us Emily (Lily Collins) like we’ve never seen her before: in Rome! After taking a Roman holiday, Emily found personal and professional opportunities in Italy that enticed her to hang up her beret, rebrand, and stick around — at least for a little while!
When Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2 premiered in September 2024, fans were left with burning questions and a hunger for more delicious comfort TV. Thankfully, Netflix renewed the series for Season 5 several days after Season 4’s drop, which means Emily and crew are returning to screens soon. The question is, when?!
When does Emily in Paris return with new episodes on Netflix? What’s the status of Emily in Paris Season 5 production? How did the recent pope election impact Emily in Paris? Which Emily in Paris cast members are returning for Season 5? And what else can we expect from the new season of the long-running Netflix series?
Here’s everything to know about Emily in Paris Season 5, including premiere date, filming, cast updates, and more.
Before we dive into Emily in Paris Season 5 info, because it’s been eight months since Season 4, Part 2 dropped on Netflix, we figured you may need a refresher on how exactly we left things with Emily and her pals. If so, Decider has you covered. Here’s our Emily in Paris Season 4 finale recap, which breaks down some of her biggest Italy moments. After you’re caught up, here’s what to know about Season 5…

Since it’s still so early in production, an official premiere date for Emily in Paris Season 5 has yet to be announced, but Netflix’s Tudum confirmed that Season 5 is set to premiere later in 2025.
With the exception of Season 4, Part 1’s summer drop, new seasons of Emily in Paris have always been released in September, October, or December. So Netflix will likely opt for another fall/winter release. Stay tuned for more updates!
On Wednesday, May 7, Lily Collins posted a glamorous photo of herself sitting on a vespa to Instagram to announce the first day of Season 5 filming! That’s right, folks. Production on the fifth season of Emily in Paris has officially commenced, and this season, Emily has a bob!
“Lights, Camera, Amore – Emily in Paris Season 5 is now in production!” Collins’ caption read. Despite her return to Italy, however, Tudum confirmed that production will move back to Paris later this summer, so perhaps Emily will, too!

“The cast and crew of Emily in Paris are thrilled to begin filming Season 5 in the Eternal City,” creator Darren Star told Tudum about Season 5. “From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us.”
Though production is currently underway, a source told UsWeekly that the announcement of Pope Leo XIV has impacted filming in Italy, saying, “All the news helicopters covering the new Pope are causing mayhem and making so much noise.” Here’s hoping the chaos dies down so Emily can get her Italy back on.
While no official episode count has been announced yet, all four Emily in Paris seasons have consisted of 10 episodes, so it’s safe to assume that the same will be true for Season 5. We’ll have to see whether episodes drop all at once or the season is split again, but Netflix may reverse course and return to the 10-episode drop like it did with series such as Virgin River and The Lincoln Lawyer.
Since filming on the fifth season just started, there’s no trailer yet, but Decider will be sure to update this post when a teaser finally drops. Until then, please enjoy this video of Collins and Emily in Paris co-star Eugenio Franceschini, who plays her new Italian man, Marcello.
In addition to Collins, of course, so many fan-favorite Emily in Paris stars will be returning for Season 5. But since Season 4 wrapped, there have been several casting shakeups worthing noting.
In October 2024, Bravo told IndieWire that he wasn’t having as much fun with the role of Gabriel anymore and thought the character had been “slowly turned into guacamole.” Then in November, a source reportedly told UsWeekly, “The show will go on with or without Lucas. The show is Emily in Paris — not Gabriel in Paris… Everyone is so upset about the remarks he made. There is going to be a lot of tension.”
Bravo is still set to return in Season 5, and Lucien Laviscount, who plays Emily’s former love interest Alfie, is coming back as a series regular. Meanwhile, Camille Razat, who was a series regular for the first four season of Emily in Paris as Camille, will be departing. In an Instagram post on April 23, Razat reflected on her decision to step away and said, “I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way. Thank you for the beautiful ride ????.”
While we wait for more info, Tudum confirmed that the following cast members will all be returning for Season 5 in some capacity.
We’ll be sure to update this article as more Emily in Paris Season 5 info trickles in.
