The Rocketman just blasted off to EGOT status!

Sir Elton John was bestowed with the award for Variety Special (Live) at tonight’s Emmys by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium, which was released on Disney+ in December 2022.

The former Saturday Night Live stars, who presented the award in the format of an SNL-style Weekend Update, even teased at the achievement, as Poehler exclaimed, “Now I can’t speak for Elton, but e-got to be excited about that.”

Although the iconic musician was not present at tonight’s awards ceremony, those who accepted the award on his behalf assured viewers that “he’s absolutely fine” and that he “wanted to send his love and thanks to the Television Academy for this incredible award.”
