The English “Shape of You” singer has inked a deal on a sumptuous top-floor unit in one of Brooklyn’s toniest nabes.
Amid a copyright-infringement trial that’s brought the Brit to the Big Apple, Ed Sheeran has been revealed as the tenant of a luxury Stateside pad to weather his current legal storm.
The $36,000-a-month three-story home is located in the approximately 100-unit, new development Brooklyn Heights building Pierhouse, the Wall Street Journal first reported. When the unit listed in January for this mighty sum, it was the priciest for lease in the borough at the time — and it appears that Sheeran signed the deal in late February.
The pop star isn’t the first celebrity to call the complex home: Matt Damon and Amy Schumer have previously bought in the building.
Sheeran’s apartment has four bedrooms spread over its 3,200 square feet, as well as a private rooftop terrace with an outdoor dining area and a grill looking out across the East River to lower Manhattan.
The crib comes fully furnished, with fittings from high-end brands including Serena & Lily, Crate & Barrel and RH, according to a previous listing.
The home last sold in 2018 for $6.01 million, the Journal reported.
It’s unclear who Sheeran’s new landlord is.
“I think it ticks a lot of boxes for what you want today in a New York penthouse triplex,” Sarah Williams, founder and CEO of SOCIETE Real Estate, told The Post of the dwelling. “Security. Space. Five-star amenities. Dramatic 16-foot ceilings and soaring Manhattan skyline views. A private rooftop terrace even.”
Despite being able to afford such opulence, Sheeran has been having a a rough go of it.
The 32-year-old is currently embroiled in a federal trial in which he’s accused of ripping off Marvin Gaye’s 1973 hit “Let’s Get It On” in his own track “Thinking Out Loud.”
“I’m done,” the four-time Grammy Award-winner said this month of his fate if he loses.
In addition to the legal turmoil, Sheeran is also still reeling from his wife Cherry’s cancer diagnosis.
