The Eagles may not have the secret sauce of the Tush Push beyond this season.
The 35-year-old center joined “The NFL Report” with James Palmer and Steve Wyche on Thursday and reflected that the end of his career may be near after he was asked about all the responsibilities he’s taken on outside of football, including his “New Heights” podcast with brother, Travis Kelce.
“We took on a lot last year, and it ended up working out really, really well for Travis and I at the end of the season, although we [the Eagles] did come up one game short,” he said of losing the Super Bowl to his brother’s Chiefs team.
“I think it is a lot, and I think the way we’ve justified it as a family is this [playing football] is going to be over pretty soon here. If it’s this year, which it very well could be, we want to make sure that we’re ready to go when football’s done.
“All of these different opportunities to figure out what we want to do in retirement. On top of that, just enjoy the last time you have left with the guys you have.”
Kelce weighed the idea of retiring last offseason, but he announced in March that “I ain’t f–king done yet!”
The Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast was already very popular, but rocketed up in visibility when Travis began dating Taylor Swift.
The brothers have had light-hearted conversations about the relationship in the weeks since.
Jason Kelce, a five-time All-Pro and a member of the Eagles’ 2017-18 Super Bowl championship team, is in his 13th NFL season.
He made a Christmas music album last year with Eagles teammates Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, and they are reprising it this holiday season.
In his “NFL Report” appearance, Kelce acknowledged he doesn’t know if he will get this type of bonding with his friends after his playing career is over.
Said Kelce: “When these opportunities come up, you realize that the closer you are to the end of your career the opportunities to do these engaging things with fans and friends is gonna be less and less and it makes you want to do them that much more because when you’re done it’s not gonna be there as much.”
