The DUI charges against the sister of Nima Momeni, the alleged killer of Cash App founder Bob Lee, have been discharged by the San Francisco District Attorney “pending further investigation.”
Khazar Momeni, 38, was arrested last month and booked on suspicion of DUI, hit and run, failing to drive within a lane, and failing to provide proof of financial responsibility after smashing her car near the Tenderloin area of San Francisco.
But the district attorney dropped each count — at least for the time being.
“Although the charges against Ms. Momeni are being discharged, the investigation is continuing, and charges could be filed at a later date,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement.
The office put filing official charges on hold as it awaits Momeni’s toxicology report from the Medical Examiner — a move it stressed was routine in such situations.
“Discharging cases involving a blood draw for toxicology due to a delay in receiving the toxicology report is very common and not unusual,” the DA office said.
Momeni — who is reportedly key to her brother’s alleged motive in the murder of Lee — was arrested on Nov. 27 after she allegedly crashed her white Mercedes coupe into two parked cars, police and a witness told NBC Bay Area.
Two firefighters said they saw her inhale from a whip-it cartridge while behind the wheel and cops found two canisters in her car at the time of the collision, according to the outlet.
Momeni, who also uses her husband’s last name Elyassnia, was friends with Lee and was with him that night of his April murder.
Her brother was arrested for Lee’s killing and is accused of stabbing him to death over his relationship with his sister.
She and Lee may have been romantically involved and reportedly frequented underground sex and drug parties with San Francisco’s elite class.
Nima Momeni allegedly confronted Lee about his sister and asked if they had been “doing drugs or anything inappropriate” together, according to prosecutors.
