Drew Barrymore might be a famous actress, but even she got too starstruck to strike up a conversation with Taylor Swift. On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the host revealed that she was “too nervous” to say anything to the singer at the Grammys, despite working together in the past.
Barrymore made the confession to co-host Ross Mathews and guest co-host Annaleigh Ashford during the episode’s Drew’s News segment, where they chatted about SZA being too afraid to approach Beyoncé at the award show.
“I can’t speak unless she wants to speak, in my brain, because I don’t want to bother her. She looked so peaceful and beautiful,” SZA told E! News earlier this month. “I just admire her. She’s a masterclass on poise, grace, artistry, beauty and kindness.”
According to Barrymore, she found herself in the same position when she saw Swift walk in front of her at the annual ceremony.
“I am so relieved to hear this because I have catatonic panic syndrome and it happened again to me the other day with Taylor Swift at the Grammys,” Barrymore said. “She walked by.”
While she was at a loss for words in the moment, Barrymore was once tight with the “Love Story” songstress.
“We were CoverGirls together! I knew her back in the day,” she said. “But it does happen. I get too nervous to speak to people.”

This isn’t the first time Barrymore has dished on her missed chance to chat it up with Swift. During a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, she elaborated more on why she chickened out of saying hi to the star.
“I used to be a CoverGirl with her. I used to text with her. I know this person and yet she’s become so big and such a phenomenon that I didn’t say hello,” Barrymore recalled. “I got too scared.”
