Stephen Colbert had to reel Drew Barrymore back in when her NSFW jokes started to take a life of their own during a fun cooking segment on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

The Late Show host appeared on today’s broadcast along with his wife Evie McGee-Colbert to promote their new cookbook Does This Taste Funny? Recipes Our Family Loves, which features a vegetable soup recipe the trio recreated on the air.

But it wasn’t just your regular old cooking segment. As they put their ingredients together, Barrymore asked the married couple a series of spicy questions.

“Name an animal that describes the other one’s flirting,” she said at one point, to which Colbert joked, “Something that hibernates.”

McGee-Colbert looked shocked and somewhat offended, but the comedian explained, “Around 9 p.m. every night the blanket goes around, she lies down on the couch and she goes, ‘No, no, no. Don’t turn it off. I’m still watching.’”

Meanwhile, McGee-Colbert compared her husband to a “bull” because “he’s a Taurus.”

“Yes, and I enjoy when you wear a red cape,” Colbert quipped.

Barrymore, however, took things in a different direction.

“By the way, bulls are sexy. That’s a very masculine, horny, you know,” Barrymore said, before Colbert chimed in, “OK! It’s a family show!”

In the spirit of making vegetable soup, Barrymore also asked the duo to name the “sexiest vegetable” elsewhere in the segment. While McGee-Colbert named a zucchini, Colbert went with a peach, prompting Barrymore to explain that people are now putting peaches in grocery carts to signal that they’re interested in someone.

“I wouldn’t put a peach in. I would put a pear in just to give whoever it is a preview of my body type,” Colbert joked.

Barrymore then said, “You don’t look like a peach,” while McGee-Colbert added, “Or a pear.”
