Drew Barrymore and Savannah Guthrie got tatted live on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

It was just two short years ago that the besties first got inked together, with Barrymore adding three sardines to her collection of tattoos to represent her and her two daughters, while Guthrie got the words, “All my love” in her late father’s handwriting from a love letter he wrote to her mother when they were dating.

“I just have to say I’m not a tattoo person,” Guthrie said on this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show. “I never thought I’d get any tattoo, but we talked about it for years and Drew is very persuasive. She’s like, ‘I found our guy and he’s coming over and let’s do this.’ So I did. And I’ve never regretted it and I really loved it.”

Somehow, Barrymore was able to convince Guthrie to get a second tattoo, which was done live on the air.

“We made a little plan and then I told my daughter. I’m like, ‘Oh, I want you guys to draw little hearts and I’m gonna get a tattoo,’” Guthrie recalled. “And she’s like, ‘Mommy, every time you see Ms. Drew, you get a tattoo.’”

As the duo chatted about Guthrie’s new children’s book Mostly What God Does is Love You, the longtime Today Show anchor got small hearts drawn by her children Vale, 10, and Charley, 8, tattooed on her wrist. Barrymore got the word “time” tattooed on her forearm — which was partly inspired by an audience member named Jack who lost his partner and got a bench in his memory with a quote from Never Been Kissed engraved on it.

Barrymore said Jack described his late partner as someone who “didn’t waste time” and “really made the most of his time.”

“I’m getting the word ‘time.’ I realize now how important time is, how meaningful, how not to take it for granted,” Barrymore explained. “Time is our precious commodity. So I feel so grateful to get signs from whatever it is that gives you faith.”

The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays on CBS. You can check the website for local airtimes.
