NextImg:Draymond Green refused to take Jordan Poole to dinner after sucker punch

Draymond Green had no interest in repairing his relationship with Jordan Poole.

He didn’t even want to share a meal.

After Green infamously punched Poole in the face, which was clearly seen in a video obtained by TMZ, during a Warriors practice ahead of last season, he refused to take Poole to dinner in order to reconcile the situation, according to The Ringer.

Head coach Steve Kerr repeatedly attempted to convince Green to take Poole out to dinner and smooth over their fractured relationship, all of which Green declined, per the report.

Green’s refusal to take Poole to dinner and his overall unwillingness to repair the relationship led Poole to feel isolated from the team’s veteran stars, the Ringer reported.

Poole, 24, reportedly felt pressure to prove to the team’s older stars — Green, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson — that he was capable of carrying the torch of their dynasty, leading him to make on-court mistakes.

Poole played a critical role in helping the Warriors win the 2021-22 championship and was subsequently rewarded with a monstrous four-year, $128 million contract.

He struggled mightily last year to live up to that deal, however, particularly in the playoffs, when he averaged just 10.3 points per game on 34 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from 3-point range.

The Warriors then traded Poole along with Patrick Baldwin Jr., a 2030 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Wizards for Chris Paul.

Green publicly apologized to Poole last year after the sucker punch in which Poole crumpled to the ground after being struck, calling it an “embarrassment” before taking a brief leave of absence.

That sense of regret seemingly went missing behind closed doors.

Poole was carrying himself in a “cocky” manner around the team after inking his new contract and was running veterans the wrong way before Green clocked him, TMZ reported at the time.
