Downton Abbey is going out with a bang.

The hit period drama has released a teaser trailer for its final installment, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.

Set to premiere exclusively in theaters Sept. 12, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale will follow the iconic Crawley family and their staff in the year 1930.

“As the beloved cast of characters navigates how to lead Downton Abbey into the future, they must embrace change and welcome a new chapter,” the official synopsis reads.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale marks the end of the beloved series, which premiered on ITV in 2010 and aired on PBS for six seasons and two movies.

The touching trailer shows this will be an emotional farewell for the Crawley family, as they navigate this new future. Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) steps into her power in high society as Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) tells her, “You will be a sensation.”

The trailer also suggests there will be a meaningful tribute to the late Dame Maggie Smith, who passed away in September 2024.

It closes with a touching moment where the Crawley family looks on as Robert Crawley (Hugh Bonneville) kisses his hand and touches the walls of Downton Abbey one last time.

“Everything has led to this,” the trailer boasts.

Allen Leech, Laura Carmichael, Elizabeth McGovern and Harry Hadden-Paton will all be returning for this final installment.

The teaser also gives a glimpse of Paul Giamatti as Cora Crawley’s brother Harold Levinson and the return of Dominic West as the resplendent movie star Guy Dexter.

Simon Curtis, who directed Downton Abbey: A New Era, returns to helm this film, which was written by original Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.
