Dorit Kemsley can’t seem to escape controversy on this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Not long after Garcelle Beauvais called her out for “unconscious Karen behavior,” Kemsley has come under fire by fans for yet another “microaggression.”
In a preview for tonight’s episode of the reality show, newbie AnneMarie Wiley dredges up drama during the group’s first dinner in Spain. According to Wiley, Crystal Kung Minkoff didn’t have the nicest things to say about the other women when they met for the first time.
“The first thing Crystal said to me about this group of women was that you ladies were not intelligent, nobody was educated and you’re very shallow,” Wiley claims.
While Minkoff slams the accusations as “ridiculous,” not everyone seems to buy her denial.
“You’re nowhere near more educated than the rest of us,” Kemsley says in her confessional. “By the way, Child Bride, while you were busy getting married at 12, the rest of us were building businesses, graduating college, doing things, you know, to educate ourselves.”
Before we go much further, it should be noted that Minkoff earned degrees in biology and history from the University of California, Irvine, before marrying Disney director Rob Minkoff in 2007 when she was 24 — not 12. Plus, she and her brother co-founded the successful coconut water brand Real Coco.
With all of this in mind, fans have taken to X to slam Kemsley — whose behavior was recently called into question after Beauvais accused her of living in a “bubble.”
“Dorit referring to Crystal as a child bride is disgusting….” one wrote, while another added, “Dorit says Crystal was a ‘child bride.’ WTF Dorit. Do you even hear yourself when you say ignorant shit like this?”
A third person said, “Dorit calling Crystal a child bride… doesn’t sit right with me! Meanwhile Crystal has a degree and a successful business, not a room at Bucca Di Beppo.”
Someone else fumed, “Dorit and that ‘child bride’ comment about Crystal was just another example of how problematic she is.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs every Wednesday night at 8/7c on Bravo. New episodes stream on Peacock the next day.
