Unsettling footage presented in court this week shows “Doomsday Mom” Lori Vallow Daybell casually sunning herself in a bikini the moment police presented her with a court order to produce her two missing children — both of whom were later found dead on her new husband’s property.

In the video from Jan. 25, 2020 obtained by Fox 10 Phoenix, Vallow Daybell is seen relaxing in a poolside chair in a Kauai, Hawaii when authorities hand her paperwork from Madison County, Idaho that gives her five days to safely present her children Tylee Ryan, 16, and Joshua “J.J.” Vallow, 7.

While frantic relatives had been searching for Tylee and J.J. since they were last seen in Sept. 2019, Vallow Daybell was living in Kauai with her new husband, doomsday author Chad Daybell, who is also seen in the clip.

The footage shows Vallow Daybell shaking her head at the document and shrugging when the officer asks if she has any questions.

There is a copy of “Visions of Glory,” a controversial book about near-death experiences and the apocalypse by Mormon author John Pontius, open at her side.

Vallow Daybell, 49, is now on trial in Idaho for allegedly killing Tylee and J.J. and conspiring with Chad to kill his first wife, Tammy, who died in Oct. 2019.

The Jan. 2020 video was shown this week as part of the prosecution’s argument that the former beauty pageant contestant was a suspect in the children’s disappearance from the beginning of the investigation.

Five days after the video was taken, Vallow Daybell missed the deadline to produce the children. She was arrested in late February on charges of desertion and nonsupport of dependents and extradited back to Idaho.

Lori Vallow Daybell was tracked down in Hawaii in Jan. 2020.

Those charges were later upgraded to two counts of first-degree murder and three counts of conspiracy after Tylee and J.J.’s remains were unearthed on Chad’s Salem property in June 2020.

Both Vallow Daybell and Chad are accused of killing the children as well as Chad’s first wife, Tammy, who died in Oct. 2019.

The state has argued that Vallow Daybell was taken by Chad’s apocalyptic writings and believed her children were demons.

Earlier this week, the jury was shown text exchanges from July 2019 in which Vallow Daybell and Chad discussed a “perfectly orchestrated plan” for the children.

Prosecutors said both Tylee and J.J. were ultimately killed in September of that year, around the time they were both last seen — and buried in shallow graves in Chad’s backyard.

Experts testified that J.J. was asphyxiated with a plastic bag while his mouth was covered in duct tape. Tylee’s cause of death remains undetermined, though her body showed significant traumas including burning and carnivore activity.

Jurors also heard about the suspicious death of Tammy Daybell, who died at home on Oct. 19, 2019.

Internet history revealed that Vallow Daybell googled wedding dresses on the day of Tammy’s funeral. She and Chad were married in Hawaii on Nov. 5.

The following month, an autopsy determined that Tammy died from homicide asphyxiation.

A video from Jan. 26, 2020 – one day after Vallow Daybell received the order to present her children – also shows Vallow Daybell and Chad walking hand-in-hand in Hawaii, seemingly unbothered by a reporter’s questions about Tylee and J.J.’s whereabouts.

When the reporter from the East Idaho News tells Vallow Daybell that people are praying for her children, she replies “good,” but otherwise refuses to comment.

Because of new evidence that was submitted too late to be presented in court, Vallow Daybell is not facing the death penalty.

Chad will be tried on the charges at a later date.
