Many have questions after what they’ve seen in the Giants’ first three games of the season, including former NFC East rival Donovan McNabb.
The six-time Pro Bowler and former Eagles quarterback had some choice words for Big Blue’s franchise quarterback, Daniel Jones, who signed a four-year, $160 million contract in the offseason.
In Friday’s episode of his OutKick show “The Five Spot with Donovan McNabb,” he discussed Thursday’s 30-12 loss to the 49ers with OutKick senior NFL writer Armando Salguero.
“Well, you know what, when you look at their offense — and (Giants head coach Brian) Daboll was supposed to be kind of a QB whisperer so to speak — I really didn’t see that last year,” McNabb said. “I was looking forward to this upcoming season to see changes in Daniel Jones because, to be honest with you, I’m not a big Daniel Jones fan.”
McNabb, 46, explained that he believes Jones, the No. 6 pick 2019, has done little to earn the extension he signed since he hasn’t separated himself from other quarterbacks in the league, including his draft class with Kyler Murray.
Rather, McNabb believes the Giants gave him the money “because they didn’t want to give the big splash money to Saquon Barkley.”
After the first three weeks, which included a season opening 40-0 blowout loss to the Cowboys, McNabb said he would like to see fans to get up in arms over the Giants and Jones like others have of Russell Wilson and the Broncos to address the lackluster performance since the deal was made.

“I want the same energy from everybody who watched the Denver Broncos last year with Russell Wilson when he got his contract,” he said. “I thought that the world came down on Russell more than they are right now and Daniel Jones.”
After 11 seasons in Philadelphia, McNabb spent one year apiece with Washington and Minnesota before retiring in 2013.
As an Eagle, McNabb compiled an impressive 92-49-1 record, and amassed 32,873 passing yards and 216 touchdowns.
He also took the Eagles to five NFC Championship games and an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIX, which they lost to the New England Patriots, 24-21.
