Donald Trump Jr. posted a picture of New York Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter on social media on Tuesday as his father was admonished for his online rants amid the legal maneuvers against him.
Around 12:30 on Tuesday afternoon, Donald Trump Jr. shared a Breitbart article alleging that Merchan’s daughter, Loren, worked on the Biden-Harris presidential campaign.
“Seems relevant…yet another connection in this hand picked democrat show trial. The BS never ends folks,” the former president’s eldest child, 45, wrote on Twitter and Truth Social.
Loren Merchan was listed as a Democrat on a 2020 honors list by Campaigns & Elections, which detailed her work as a president and partner with Authentic Campaigns, a digital agency geared toward progressive political campaigns.
In addition to the Biden-Harris camp and Kamala Harris for the People, Authentic lists Cory Booker and Hakeem Jeffries as previous clients.
Two hours after his son’s post, Trump, 76, appeared before Judge Merchan to plead not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records stemming from hush money payments to “three individuals” during his 2016 White House campaign.
During the lengthy proceedings, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office accused Trump of “threatening our city, our justice system, our courts and our office” with his own online diatribes, Independent correspondent Richard Hall reported.
In the days before he was indicted last week, Trump threatened “death and destruction” for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, including a controversial side-by-side photo of himself wielding a baseball bat at Bragg’s head.
But while Judge Merchan reportedly admonished Trump’s blustering posts, he declined to issue a gag order that would prevent the real estate mogul and his lawyers from talking about the case publically.
In his first post-arraignment remarks at Mar-A-Lago last night, however, Trump directly called out Merchan and his family as “Trump-hating.”
“I have a Trump-hating judge with a Trump-hating wife and family whose daughter worked for Kamala Harris and now receives money from the Biden-Harris campaign — and a lot of it,” the 2024 Republican hopeful scoffed.
He also blasted DA Alvin Bragg’s investigation into his payments to attorney Michael Cohen as a “witch hunt,” and vowed that his only crime is to “ fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it.”
Speaking outside the Manhattan Criminal Court building on Tuesday afternoon, Trump’s lawyers blasted the case as “disappointing.”
“The indictment itself is boilerplate. It’s really disappointing. It’s sad and we’ll fight it,” Tom Blanche said
Lawyer Susan Necheles also defended Trump’s social media activity.
“You may disagree with the way he spoke, but he was angry,” she said of the baseball bat post before adjourning the press circle.
Trump is due back in court on Dec. 4.
