NORTH CHARLESTON, South Carolina — Donald Trump Jr. weighed in on who he would like his father to choose as his VP on Friday, telling The Post he would like to see someone like media personality Tucker Carlson, but that the decision has a “long way to go.”

“There would be a couple [of candidates] that I would love to see. If only just for the vice presidential debate. Like I’d love to see a Tucker Carlson go up against Kamala Harris. Just that would be fun,” Trump Jr. told reporters at the former president’s HQ in South Carolina.

About Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who has been widely speculated as a potential VP, Trump Jr said “Tim is a good friend of mine. Tim is a great guy.”

GOP front-runner Donald Trump has been coy in who he is considering to be his No. 2 and has not revealed when he would announce his decision.

On Tuesday, Trump praised all the possible candidates provided to him during a Fox News town hall, including Scott, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), bio tech mogul Vivek Ramaswamy and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).

The former president has also said he would consider Tucker as his veep.

“I like Tucker a lot. I guess I would,” Trump said on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” in November. “I think I’d say I would, because he’s got great common sense.”

Tucker has thrown cold water on the speculation in the past, telling Megyn Kelly that despite being a “total sucker for Trump,” he hasn’t “led a life that prepares a person for politics.”

“I don’t think I have any, like, horrible skeletons or anything. It’s not that. It’s just that that’s not how my brain works. I’ve never done anything like that. I can’t imagine spending time with politicians,” Tucker told Kelly on her podcast.

Trump Jr said his father had “shared some of those as potentials” already and that “there’s probably a couple that he didn’t mention that are potentials.”

He said he hasn’t “had a conversation with him in recent times,” but spoke about it “generally around the holidays” where “some ideas” were shared.

Trump Jr had previously denounced 2024 rival Nikki Haley as a VP option months before his father made that official.

“I think we have a long way to go and a lot of it is how it sort of lays out in the future,” the former first son said, noting that “some of it is a strategic decision,” but that he would like to see someone “competent.”

The former first son also blasted DeSantis’ claims that Trump was going to use “identity politics” to decide who should be on the ticket with him.

DeSantis made the criticism Wednesday during a call with potential delegates obtained by The Post, in which he said he would not be Trump’s VP.

“I don’t know whether Ron DeSantis knows anything about what my father is talking about. I know there hasn’t been a lot of communication with that team,” Trump Jr said.
