Dolly Parton stunned fans everywhere when the 77-year-old artist showed up to the Washington-Dallas halftime show dressed as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
Parton took the stage during the Thanksgiving game to perform her biggest hits before a sold-out crowd at the AT&T Stadium. The Grammy Award-winning singer sported the iconic white and blue cowboy vest and shorts while she performed “Jolene” and “9 to 5.”
Perhaps Parton’s show-stopping performance was just what the Dallas Cowboys needed – they won the game, 45 to 10.
Fans at home gushed over Parton’s performance, comparing her timeless talent to Cher, who performed at that morning’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“I’m thankful for Cher and Dolly Parton,” one fan wrote on X. “Two 77 year old women were the best part of thanksgiving 2023. Age is nothing but a number. Talent last for decades. Both amazing. And still got it. The old guard stands strong.”
“Good Lord! The ageless, elegant, and still undefeated #DollyParton is bringing down the house in Dallas, at halftime of #WASvsDAL. Truly one of one,” another fan wrote.
“You know who’s a national treasure? #DollyParton. That’s who,” a user said.
Others felt that Parton’s performance showed it was time for her to play the Superbowl. “We couldn’t help but cheer on @DollyParton during her halftime performance at today’s Dallas Cowboys game! Who agrees she should perform at the Superbowl?”
Even CBS announcer Tony Romo couldn’t focus on the game after Parton’s performance.
As Jim Nantz tried to steer the conversation back to the game, Romo said, “I mean, she looks amazing, right? She’s wonderful. Who doesn’t like Dolly Parton?”
Just as one fan put it: “Dolly Parton just won Thanksgiving.”
