Stop me if you’ve heard this before: It’s been a crazy week in the wild, wild world of Yellowstone. Kevin Costner teased that his Yellowstone story may not be finished, and Paramount Network released a fun behind-the-scenes video about Season 5, Part 2.
The teaser noted how secretive production was, with actors receiving redacted scripts that only contained their lines to help prevent spoilers.
“Audiences this year will really see real reactions that really were not rehearsed,” Denim Richards said in the video. “It brought me to tears,” Luke Grimes said regarding the end of the series. “It’s really, really good, and I think people are really going to love it.”
When exactly will fans be able to watch the first new episode of Yellowstone since January 1, 2023? Here’s when the popular series returns to Paramount Network.
Nope. The network is airing an Indiana Jones movie marathon today from 12:00 p.m. ET to 4:00 a.m. ET.
“Snakes? Why did it have to be snakes?”
Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 premieres Sunday, November 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET on Paramount Network.
You can watch all five seasons of the series on Peacock. Episodes and full seasons are also available to purchase on Amazon.
On June 20, Costner confirmed his permanent exit from the series in a social media video. The actor later elaborated on his statement during an interview with Extra‘s Billy Bush, clarifying that he was waiting to receive more info on the fate of his character, but it never came.
“I just hadn’t heard anything about how [John Dutton’s death] would be done,” Costner said. “So it’s time to move on as gracefully as you can with something that’s been very important to you…It was time to move.”
That was in June, but there are never any easy answers when it comes to Yellowstone. Earlier this week, Costner hinted that his story isn’t finished.
“I haven’t seen that dust trail coming toward me, but I’ve always been open to what I started,” the star told Entertainment Tonight. “Five seasons was a lot for us to do, and I think that story is not finished.”
Where exactly does that leave us? When it comes to Yellowstone, anything is possible. In August, rumors swirled that the flagship series could return for a sixth season, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Filming has already wrapped on what’s being referred to as the “series” finale, and Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes, and Cole Hauser are talking about the show’s “perfect ending.”
“It was always going to be five seasons in [Sheridan’s] head, but because the show became so successful, the network and everyone wanted more,” Reilly told EW. “So, in a way, fate took it and we ended this part of Yellowstone in a way that he always envisioned it to end.”
Reilly saying how they ended “this part of Yellowstone” is interesting. Numerous spinoffs of the series are in the works — including a present-day series titled The Madison starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, and Matthew Fox — and from a streaming perspective it makes sense for this iteration of Yellowstone, which streams on Peacock and not Paramount+, to end. Peacock owns the streaming rights to Yellowstone, but any potential new shows, like the rumored but never confirmed Kelly Reilly/Cole Hauser-led spinoff — would most likely stream exclusively on Paramount+.
Yes, but the season won’t be available for next-day streaming on the platform.
The midseason finale of Yellowstone aired January 1, 2023, on Paramount Network and the first eight episodes of the season debuted May 25, 2023, on Peacock. If the series follows a similar streaming schedule, new episodes of Yellowstone should premiere on Peacock about six months after the series finale airs on Paramount Network.
Yellowstone returns with new episodes Sunday, November 10th at 8:00 p.m. ET on Paramount Network.
