A disturbing new video captures the moment a knife-wielding Queens man was shot by cops Thursday, after he allegedly stabbed a security guard outside a church.
The cell phone footage shows the 59-year-old man, identified by cops as Richard Moncrieffe, sitting on the front steps of First Presbyterian Church on 164th Street in Jamaica around 3:45 p.m. Thursday as a cop car roll up.
As officers run up to the church with guns drawn, Moncrieffe erratically waves his hands in the air, jumps down the steps, and appears to run toward cops while screaming something inaudible, the video shows.
“Drop the knife!” the cops can be heard yelling.
It appears from the shaking cell phone footage that Moncrieffe had something in his right hand, which he waves at officers — but it could not be made out clearly in the video.
“Don’t shoot him!” a female onlooker can be heard yelling out.
Seconds later, the officers fired what cops said was a total of three shots, and Moncrieffe can be seen collapsing on the sidewalk, wounded.
“Drop the knife!” both of the cops continued to yell in the video.
Moncrieffe, who has a history of mental illness, is accused of stabbing a guard in the chest Thursday, which triggered the police response.
He was charged Friday with assault, menacing a police officer, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.
Both Moncrieffe and the guard were taken to the hospital and were expected to recover.
