NextImg:Dishwasher-safe? Who cares — these Crocs are so cheap, just buy a new pair

Let’s face it. When the sun comes out and it starts to feel like summer again, the last thing you want to do is wrestle with a pair of crusty, old, smelly shoes.

Consider this seasonal wisdom — just ditch them. Sure, you could clean them (and hope they become wearable again), or you could do what any reasonable adult does when faced with a sticky situation. You could get rid of them and replace them with a shiny, brand-new pair that costs less than a nice dinner in this economy.

We all know there are shoes you want to keep pristine, other shoes that are practically made to get dirty, and some that you can buy again and again because they’re so cheap on Amazon that it’s practically criminal not to stock up on all your favorite shades. It’s not a mystery where Crocs lands on that spectrum.

Crocs are seriously easy to clean; welted with water ports, a spongy construction, and wrapped in fast-drying outer material. You could dust them off with a rag, wash them down with a hose, or if you’re anything like the Australian content creator who made headlines earlier this week, you could just toss them in the dishwasher and hope for the best (although the brand does not recommend doing that).

The bottom line: Crocs are so affordable right now that there’s no reason to stress over stains or snags. Just grab a new pair, but do it fast. This deal won’t last forever, and neither will the old pair that’s been sitting in your closet since last year.

Commuter shoes, garden clogs, arch therapy, or a sometimes-fabulous fad — whatever you consider them, there is one thing about Crocs that certainly rings true. They’re ultra-durable and easy to clean, depending on who you’re talking to, undeniably cool.

Anthony Di Paolo loved his pair so much that he felt compelled to show his followers how he cares for them. In the viral clip posted to Instagram, he popped his Crocs in the dishwasher for a cycle with the rest of his dirty dishes.

“They’re actually spotless,” he boasted.“They shrank a little bit. Lucky they were a little too roomy, so now they fit me perfectly. But, they’ve shrunk.”

As much as Di Paolo and thousands of other Croc-lovers rave about these shoes (just look at the Amazon customer reviews), there’s really no reason to go through all the fuss of scrubbing them clean. At just $35 on Amazon, you may as well just buy a fresh pair for the whole family.
