NextImg:Diamondbacks ban fan with history of fan interference for rest of year after latest debacle

Interfere with the game in Arizona once, shame on you.

Do it multiple times, though, and you get banned.

The Diamondbacks have barred a season-ticket holder from Chase Field for the remainder of the 2025 season after another instance of fan interference after “multiple offenses” the past few seasons.

The latest incident came during Monday night’s game against the Giants, as the fan, identified as Dave McCaskill, reached his glove over the left field wall after Giants third baseman Christian Koss hit a ball deep into the outfield.

It carried to the warning track when McCaskill reached over the wall and snagged it while it was still in play — preventing Arizona left fielder Tim Tawa from making any sort of play.

What was first ruled a home run was changed to a double on review, and McCaskill was thrown out of the ballpark.

For the Diamondbacks, it was the last straw for the serial interferer.

“This particular fan has been involved in multiple offenses at Chase Field. Consequently, we have terminated his Advantage Member account, and he is prohibited from returning to Chase Field for the remainder of 2025,” the team said in a statement. “This fan will have the opportunity to return to Chase Field in 2026 so long as he meets certain terms and abides by our Fan Code of Conduct.”

The fan has been involved in these interferences for four straight seasons, according to Jomboy Media’s video evidence. Still, even after that, the door remains open for him to return to the stands for the 2026 season.

McCaskill made clear on Tuesday that he meant no harm with going for the ball.

“So, number one: I’m a D-backs fan,” McCaskill told Arizona Sports on Tuesday. “I’ve been here in Arizona for exactly 10 years, retired military for 24 years. I caught a foul ball my first year, and then the lightbulb went off. I was like, ‘I need to catch a home run.’

“I kind of followed Zack Hample a little bit, and ever since then, it’s been fun. … “I never try to interfere. If you look — there has been some other videos – I have been ejected three times officially. Two of those have been so close to the line, just like last night.”
