The Yankees brought in Devin Williams for one season on the baseball calendar (2025) but in particular for one season on the actual calendar (fall).

By results, Williams’ 2025 season has been his worst. But in late September with the playoffs about to dawn, he said he is feeling the best he has felt in this campaign. 

“Where my body’s at, where my head’s at, I’m in a really good spot right now,” Williams said before the Yankees hosted the White Sox on Thursday. 

Williams brought a streak of seven consecutive scoreless outings into play, over which he had allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out 10. In 17 games since Aug. 10, he owned a 2.81 ERA with twice as many strikeouts (32) as innings (16). For quite a while now, he has pitched like the often-unhittable, two-time All-Star he had been with the Brewers.
