Convicted family vlogger Ruby Franke‘s heinous crimes against her family will be chronicled in a startling new documentary series, Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke.

Franke and her husband, Kevin, ran the popular YouTube page 8 Passengers, which hit 2.5 million subscribers at its peak, capturing her life parenting their six children.

Fans long speculated that she had been mistreating her children, but it all came to a head in August 2023 when Franke and her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, were arrested on two counts of child abuse after Franke’s 12-year-old son, who was described in documents as “emaciated and malnourished, with open wounds,” escaped from Hildebrandt’s home in Utah and sought help from a neighbor. Franke’s 10-year-old daughter was also found in Hildebrandt’s residence in “similar physical condition of malnourishment.”

Authorities reportedly found Franke’s journal detailing her abuse, in which she wrote that she believed her two youngest children were demonically “possessed,” per People.

At the time of her arrest, Franke’s four minor children were taken in by the local Department of Child and Family Services. Franke’s husband also filed for divorce.

Now, Kevin and their two oldest children, Shari and Chad, will be speaking out for the very first time in the new documentary series Devil in the Family. The series will also feature never-before-seen footage of the family and additional testimonies from friends and neighbors.

Franke and Hildebrandt pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse in December 2023. Both women were sentenced to four to 30 years in prison.

The 8 Passengers documentary, Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, is streaming now on Hulu. If you already have a Hulu account, you can watch the doc for no additional fee. The Ruby Franke documentary will be split into three parts.

Episode 1, titled “Abundance,” explores Franke’s “wholesome YouTube” era before Hildebrandt ingrained herself in their lives. Episode 2, “Distortion,” chronicles how Franke began isolating the family from their loved ones as they rose through the ranks of Hildebrandt’s life coaching organization. And Episode 3, “Truth,” captures how those closest to the family tried to seek help.
