After losing in the ALDS in four games to the Blue Jays, the Yankees are now left to pick up the pieces of another lost season.

Part of the evaluation process for the front office is determining if the Yankees are satisfied with their manager, Aaron Boone, who is in year seven of his tenure in The Bronx and just recently signed a contract extension through the 2027 season.

Consider the Captain as one voice that is giving his stamp of approval for Boone — even if some fans may not consider it the most reassuring reasoning.

“Aaron did a good job,” Jeter said on the Fox postgame show as he, David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez discussed what went wrong this season. “He’s working with what he has to work with, and he sticks up for his players. I know he takes a lot of heat.

“Look, I’m not saying it from any inside knowledge, but I’m pretty sure Aaron’s not the one that’s calling every move they make throughout the game.”

It is widely speculated that while Boone is the manager of the team, most of the decisions come from the front office, which is led by general manager Brian Cashman.

Fans have often vented about the front office being too focused on analytics.

Jeter’s vote of confidence for Boone wasn’t the only one that was shared on the Fox Sports postgame show after the 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays in Game 4, as former teammate Alex Rodriguez shared similar sentiments just before Jeter’s comments.

“Honestly, from the entire organization, [Aaron Boone] is the guy I would circle that is the least to be blamed,” Rodriguez said as the Yankees boasted a $300 million payroll, the third-highest in baseball. “He’s got a lot of talent, but for me, personally, one of the worst constructions of a roster I’ve ever seen. You have three left-handed catchers, you have five (designated hitters), you have a first baseman in and out. It’s just a very difficult hand for Boone.”

Boone has two years left on his contract, and after being eliminated, he told reporters that he expects to be back with the team next season.

The Yankees have a question-filled offseason ahead as they decide what to do with free agents Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham and Devin Williams, among others.
