The Issue: Mayor Adams’ criticism of Democrats over the lack of help in addressing the city’s surge of migrants.
The only person destroying New York City is Mayor Adams (“ ‘Destroyed,’ ” April 22).
Not that I disagree with his efforts for reimbursement from the feds, but he’s the mayor. He wants to lay his misfeasance on others. No one forced him to be so generous with the New York City’s money.
He made the decision to accept the immigrants and lavish them with benefits that residents of the city cannot obtain.
This money could have helped many behind in their rent. It could have been used to improve services and safety.
Instead, he squandered it on illegal immigrants. Let him get up and say “New York City has had enough. We’re shipping all the migrants to Washington, DC.” Let him put them on buses or Amtrak. And out they go.

Adams is a typical leftist. He claims to be so compassionate. Only he doesn’t want to take responsibility for the costs involved, and expects someone else to pay of the results.
Hey, Eric, you invited the migrants, you pay for them. How many have you taken into your own home and paid for out of your own pocket?

When he was running for office, the mayor proudly declared New York was a sanctuary city, and that any and all illegal immigrants were welcome here.
Now that he sees the results of this disastrous policy, he is begging the fool in the White House, whose “leadership” is destroying this country, for more money to help pay for the cost of allowing all these illegals into the country.
Here is a news flash, Adams: Instead of asking for more funds to pay for all the services we are giving these people who entered our country illegally, perhaps you should tell this same fool he should close the border.
If he wants to give us more taxpayer dollars, that’s fine — but spend those funds on the citizens of this country.

The editorial “Time to stop flow” (April 22) was spot-on.
It’s time to turn migrants away. It is not for lack of compassion, but because the city is devouring itself with these unsustainable costs.
We are taking from our own, to provide for others. Where is the city comptroller? Does he not weigh in that financially this is irresponsible? Does he not address the shortchanging of vital programs that affect citizens?
Our elected representatives have chosen the path of political malpractice and a lack of courage. “Disgraceful” is not strong enough in describing them and their behavior.

Mayor Adams is as much to blame as President Biden for the tremendous influx of illegal immigrants coming to New York City.
At the beginning, he publicly encouraged them by saying that New York City is a sanctuary city and all would be welcome.
He even had his political cronies welcoming them all off the buses as they arrived. So what is he crying about? He got what he wanted.

Adams definitely wants to win the “doozy mayor of the year” award.
If he is not trying to completely embarrass himself and all residents of New York City and the state, why did he say migrants are destroying New York City when he himself fully supports having New York City classified as a sanctuary city — and when he personally invited anyone, from anywhere, to come to the Big Apple?
Now he reports that New York City has housed 56,000 migrants in 100 taxpayer shelters, which is costing the city’s taxpayers $4.3 billion.
Adams, the mayor of a now-broken New York City who won’t say one bad word about Gov. Hochul, Manhattan District Attorney Bragg or New York City’s sanctuary city status, wants Biden to get the city out of the hole he dug himself.
