Deivi Garcia is getting another chance in The Bronx.
The one-time top pitching prospect has transformed into more of a middle relief role and gave up one run over three innings in his lone appearance for the Yankees this season — a lopsided win over the A’s on May 10.
He’s appeared in three games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since June 28 and allowed a run over 3 ⅔ innings in what’s been another inconsistent season for the 24-year-old.
Garcia got recalled after the Yankees optioned Randy Vasquez back to SWB following another strong start in Wednesday’s loss to Baltimore at the Stadium, when Vasquez tossed five scoreless innings.
Vasquez has made three spot starts for the Yankees this season, but it’s unclear when they might need him again in the majors, since Carlos Rodon is set to make his debut for the Yankees on Friday after missing almost all of the first half due to a left forearm strain and back tightness.
