Deion Sanders will undergo emergency surgery on Friday after a blood clot was found in his groin, the Colorado football head coach told Adam “Pacman” Jones.
Pat McAfee announced the news on Thursday’s installment of “The Pat McAfee Show,” in which Jones is featured as an on-air personality.
Sanders is set to have surgery at 6 a.m. on Friday, according to Jones.
“I had a chance to talk to him this morning,” Jones said.
“But he’s up… I said, ‘Man, I hope they don’t have to cut off your d—k’.“That’s what I told him,” Jones joked. “I said, ‘Bro it’ll be bad I they have to cut off your d—k, bro. Just cut the leg off.’
“He’s been dealing with this since Jackson State. He had a blood clot in his leg — same thing with the foot. He was thinking about cutting the foot off and he didn’t.
“He went through a hell of an operation. I was there… to see him go through that and get back to where he’s at. I just want him to get healthy.”
The news came after doctors with the Colorado football team told Sanders he may have to get his left foot amputated as he continues to suffer from blood flow problems in the area.
Sanders has been open about his foot issues.
In 2021, he used a motorized wheelchair to get around after he sustained complications from foot surgery while coaching at Jackson State.
Prior to joining the Buffaloes, Sanders served as the head coach of Jackson State for three seasons, compiling a record of 25-7.
