University of Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders underwent surgery on Friday to address two blood clots in his legs that are prohibiting sufficient blood flow to his toes, and his loved ones supported him through every step of the process.
After the procedure, Sanders’ longtime girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds, took to Instagram to show her dedication and support for her partner, saying that she would be by his side during his recovery process.
“I’m not leaving this spot until it’s time for #CoachPrime @deionsanders to walk up out of here which we hope will be very soon! Sending everyone LOVE,” Edmonds wrote on an Instagram post.
“We are so grateful for the healing power of God and for all of our prayer warriors. It was a long, but successful day! #CoachPrime @deionsanders is resting and doing great tonight after his surgery! Thank you Lord! Thank you Fam! We love you.”
The couple has been together for well over a decade, having met at a movie premiere for a film she produced, according to Yahoo Sports.
This isn’t the first time that Edmonds has supported Sanders through these blood clotting issues.
During Sanders’ time at Jackson State, he often could be seen on the sidelines during games using a scooter to get around because the pain in his lower extremities was so severe.
At one point, it was so bad that he had to get two toes removed from foot.
He was recently told by doctors that he has to consider having the entire foot amputated.
Sanders found out about the latest blood clot situation during a routine check up at the doctors office.
“I went to the doctor the other day to check myself out, and I have two clots in my leg,” Sanders said in a social media post. “One in my right leg, one in my left leg, which is my thighs. So now, I’m having a procedure tomorrow to try to get those clots, so now I can have proper blood flow through the leg so they can fix the toes.”
Sanders will continue his path to recovery, but at least he has someone by his side at all times.
