Deion Sanders played against some tough players on the gridiron and baseball diamond, but one thing seemed to strike extra fear in him: a rat.
The Colorado head coach described an encounter he had with a rat in the Buffaloes facility on Thursday, and he did not seem thrilled, to say the least.
Sanders began the video by saying how he has great vision, and out of his peripheral earlier in the day, he caught sight of the creature.
“Something looking at me like, ‘What’s up,’ and I looked down and made eye contact — and it’s over,” Sanders recalled. “I’m early, really early, I come here early, but I need to wait for everybody to get in because they’re gonna have somebody come in and take these shoes and take everything out of this office because I made eye contact with a mouse.
“We called it a rat, but it wasn’t big enough to be a rat, but it was a mouse. I’m scared, I can’t do this, I can’t live like this. I’m in Boulder, Colorado — I cannot live like this. So, help is going to be on the way today. One of us has got to go.”
Sanders, who has the Buffaloes off to a 3-0 start and No. 19 in the country, had to clarify that his go-getter attitude did not apply to this particular creature in the building.
“When I said, ‘we coming,’ I didn’t mean that,” Sanders said.
Sanders, who might be getting some NFL buzz for his torrid start in the Pac-12, wanted to make it clear that he deserves better than to share his office with a rodent.
“I ain’t doing this,” he said. “I can’t live like this, I don’t deserve this — I deserve much better than this. … Somebody better call somebody to take care of that somebody.”
Colorado next takes on No. 10 Oregon on the road on Saturday, though it remains to be seen if the rat/mouse will be traveling with the team.
